Often called dehus by water damage professionals. Dehumidifiers do exactly as the
name suggests, they remove humidity from the air. Often just moving air across a
surface is not enough to dry it; the air itself must be dry as well. We test this by taking
rH measurements in the room and dehumidifiers are used as needed.
As dehumidifiers pull moisture from the room they usually get rid of moisture with
a drain tube. Technicians will often run these tubes to a sink or bathtub or even into
a bucket. Next to air movers dehumidifiers are the second most significant piece of
equipment in the drying equation.
Like air movers, dehumidifiers are extremely safe and can be left in your home or office un-attended.
